Hey, I'm Rhe

So a little about me. I've always loved all things babies, pregnancy, birth, motherhood, the lot. But like many people, I guess I took the safe route went to uni, worked the corporate ladder and put my purpose in a box to collect dust somewhere. After almost a decade working in advertising, it was clear to me that I was never going to find deep fulfilment in this work and I needed to do something that really moved me.

After a little soul searching, I remembered how interested I had been in infant care when I was young and curious. Luckily I bumped into a family friend who was a maternity nurse. After talking her ear off and asking a thousand questions about her work, she suggested I accompany her on a nightshift with a set of twins. From that night onwards I decided I’d never be in a client meeting again, handed in my resignation and pursued my career in maternity nursing. Colleagues couldn’t believe that I’d left my illustrious career for sleepless nights and dirty nappies but I honestly couldn’t have been happier.

Years later and many babies later, I’m a qualified Doula, Maternity Nurse and Hypnobirthing Instructor working with families across the world to prepare and welcome in new chapters of parenthood. Purpose never really goes away, I felt it nagging at me for years but purpose realised later in life is better than never.

Nothing brings me more joy than to support new and growing families in that transition from pregnancy into the 4th trimester. Answering their questions, calming their worries, it’s work I take so much pride in and feel the abundant blessings of.

In our modern, noisy world we’ve lost a lot of the care that the village would have given the new family. The sisters, aunties, elders that safeguarded the days, weeks and months after birth aren’t always around to love on mum as she navigates her ever changing body, mind and identity.

I am that village.

To be a part of the beginnings of all of these stories is such a beautiful thing and watching parents come into their own, growing in confidence, love and

knowledge always leaves me with a smile and a warm fuzzy feeling.

So, that’s a little about me and a lot about my why.

Rhe x
